One year stats...

Calleigh had her one year check up today.  She is weighing in at 20lb 10oz, which is in the 45th percentile (up from the 25th percentile at her 9 mo. checkup) and is 30" tall, which is in the 80th percentile (up from the 50th percentile at her 9 mo. checkup).  I think all of this growing has occured in the last couple weeks.  She has been wearing the same clothes (especially pants) for what seems like forever and then all of the sudden they seem incredibly small on her.  She showed the doctor a little of her attitude today.  She's a "look but don't touch" kind of girl lately.  She's all smiles if you're paying attention to her from afar but if you want to do anything to her (change her diaper, clean her ears, put her clothes on, etc) she turns on the tears.  The doctor says that's all girl!  And so the drama begins!

 I've mentioned before that Calleigh loves giving kisses.  She cracked me up the other day when she wanted to give Dora the Explorer a kiss.  What was so funny about it was that Dora is not a toy that she has but she's on the container of yogurt that I buy for her.  So now every time she has yogurt, she has to give Dora kisses.

Our baby is 1!!

Calleigh turned one year old today!  What an amazing year it has been.  She is such a little sweetheart.  She loves to give hugs and kisses.  She is a little social butterfly and loves an audience.  She says "hi" to everyone she sees and blows kisses bye bye.  She loves books and is happy to oblige when you ask her to turn the page.  She's not walking yet but is starting to stand up on her own for a few seconds so it probably won't be long.  It seems to us that she crawls at lightning speed.  When she's in a hurry to get somewhere, she puts her head down, scrunches up her nose and takes off, huffing and puffing all the way there.  It's pretty funny to see and hear.  She is VERY curious and is getting into everything.  She has started to hand things over to us when she's gotten ahold of something that she knows she's not supposed to have.  It's almost like she's saying "Here, I got this just for you!"  She's getting teeth in like crazy!  She currently has 7 teeth that have popped through and I can see or feel about 6 or 7 more.  She's a trooper though.  A little Orajel and ibuprofen at bedtime and she's good for the night.

We had a birthday party for her last weekend.  She had a blast.  We got this little roller coaster for her.  I was a bit concerned that she might be a little too young for it (it says ages 2+) but as you can see from the expression on her face, she LOVED it.

 Calleigh was super excited to see a $1 bill in her birthday card from Uncle Chad and Aunt Kourtney.

 Calleigh hates things on her head.  She immediately pulls off her hat when I put it on unless I'm able to distract her with something else long enough for her to forget that it's on her head.  Can you tell from the look on her face that she wasn't thrilled about this bow being on her head?  It lasted about as long as it took to take the picture.

 She started crying when I put her party hat on but as soon as we all started singing "Happy Birthday" to her she totally forgot it was there.

 She had no problem digging right into her cake.

 That cake didn't stand a chance.  She was pounding on it with both hands and smearing the frosting around. 

 Good thing we stripped her down to her diaper for this part of the party.

Happy Thanksgiving! (Go Pats!)

When the Lions season schedule came out last spring/summer, Russ was very excited to find out that his "boyfriend," Tom Brady, was going to be in town to play the Lions on Thanksgiving Day.  We just had to get tickets for the game.  Since it was our first Thanksgiving with Calleigh, I insisted that she come, too, even though I was a bit worried about trying to get her to sit for 3 hours at a football game.  She had so much fun though!  She was making friends with everyone around us.  She was smiling and laughing at everyone.  She was playing peek-a-boo with the guy behind us and giving high fives to the guys beside and in front of us.  I think some of the Lions fans around us found her more entertaining than what was going on on the field. :)

After the game, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Webster's for Thanksgiving dinner.

Calleigh and Gramps like to watch kids sing-a-longs on You Tube.  Calleigh is a big fan of "The Wheels on the Bus."

 The day after Thanksgiving, Russ headed to KC for work and Calleigh and I went to visit Oma and Opa.  We did our annual Christmas cookie baking.  Calleigh kept herself entertained by pulling nearly every piece of Gladware that my mom has out of the cabinet.

 We helped them find the perfect Christmas tree.

 And we got Calleigh's ears pierced!  She looks like such a big girl sitting there waiting to have them pierced.  Poor thing didn't know what was coming.

 First one in with no problem!  She cried for a minute and then was back to being a happy girl.  The second one didn't go over as well.  She cried and sniffled about that one for a while afterward.  She looks so pretty though!

 I just love downtown St. Joseph.  They have a bunch of great little shops and restaurants.  This winter they also have hand painted snowmen all over.  We had to stop and get a pic by this Elvis one just for Russ.

Happy 1st Birthday Dechlan!

Last month Calleigh and I went to Sturgis to help celebrate Dechlan's 1st birthday. 

 He had a lot of fun with his Mickey Mouse birthday cake.

 Dechlan got this little sled for his birthday and shared a ride around the house with Calleigh.  Neither one of them wanted to share that pop bottle though.  They kept snatching it from one another.

Ahhh...vacation!

About a year ago, the Rupps asked us if we'd be up for a little vacation to celebrate Rick's 40th birthday (which was November 2nd).  I was pregnant at the time but figured that our baby would be nearly a year old by the time we'd be going on this vacation so we should be fine.  As the time approached to make plans, I was wondering why on earth I had said yes.  I hadn't left Calleigh for more than an afternoon or evening and never overnight.  How would we cope for 4 days without eachother??!!  Well, I don't think Calleigh even noticed we were gone. :-(  And I missed my baby but had a great time hanging out - adults only!

Before we left for Florida, we hung out at Nick and Megan's and got the kids dressed up in their costumes.  Heidi, Tony and Dane came over to play, too.

 Calleigh stayed with Oma and Opa while we were in Florida.  They took her trick-or-treating at the neighbor's house.

 

Of course she didn't get to eat any candy this year but apparently taking each piece of candy out of her pail, inspecting it and then putting it back in her pail was a lot of fun.

Fall Fun

Last weekend was a fun-filled, jam-packed weekend.  We headed over to Stevensville for a visit with Oma and Opa, then down to South Bend for some tailgating with friends and our final stop, before heading home, was Sturgis for a visit with a bunch of Fieberkorns.

In Stevensville, we went to a roadside market that sold mums and pumpkins.

 Calleigh found a pumpkin just the right size for her.

They also had a lot of fun things for us to play on!

 We walked out to the end of the pier in St. Joe.

We met a bunch of friends in South Bend to tailgate at the Notre Dame vs. Western Michigan game.  It was a perfect day for tailgating!!  We had so much fun and hope to make this a yearly event.

(Calleigh started giving kisses a few weeks ago and she loves to kiss everyone and everything!  She kisses her books and baby dolls and will give mommy and daddy kiss after kiss.  It's soooo sweet!)
