Just like Daddy

So, Russ was a little worried about having a girl.  He was afraid she might be some dainty, little princess that he'd have nothing in common with.  I don't think he has to worry...

Fourth generation welder?  Calleigh loves books, magazines, junk mail - basically anything with words she can get her hands on.  Daddy's "Welding Journal" is no exception.  Here she is checking it out while waiting for the football game to start.
In their matching jerseys after the Pats win the AFC Championship game.
Yay!  Excited after the big win and ready for the Superbowl.

Whew...What a Christmas!

Last summer, we decided to do a Christmas roadtrip to Florida, via Mobile, with the Rupps.  We decided to leave the Monday before Christmas and get back to the Rupps on New Year's Eve.  Sooo, that meant we had to squeeze in Christmases with 3 sets of grandparents, as well as our own, before we left.  With all the birthday and Christmas celebrations we had in December, Calleigh became quite the gift opening pro.  It seemed like there was a birthday or Christmas gift everywhere we went and Mommy had to cringe a couple times when Calleigh asked, "I open more presents?"

Making Daddy breakfast with some of her new kitchen food and dishes.
Calleigh & Dechlan by the Christmas tree at Oma and Opa's house.  I just love this picture of them in their Christmas jammies.
Calleigh with a new baby doll.  She got a few this Christmas and loves to put them to bed and feed them in her new nursery set and take them for walks in her new stroller.
"Arrr, arrr, arrr!"  Tools for D this Christmas!
Oooooh, and some new Bucs gear.
Calleigh had to check out D's new helmet.
We drove through Mobile on our way to Florida so we could visit our friend Liz.  We had so much fun visiting with her and Zachary.  She took us to see the USS Alabama, which was commissioned during WWII, and has been in Mobile since 1964.  It was pretty cool to see just how much was packed into this ship.  It really was like a floating city, with facilities for pretty much everything you can imagine.
 Welcome aboard, Calleigh!
From Mobile, we went to Sarasota to spend a couple of days with JD and Ella's Mimi.  The weather there was awesome and we were able to go to the pool for a little while when we got there.
The next day, we went to the beach in Sarasota.  Another georgeous day and a beautiful beach!

Looking for shells with "Aunt" Jenny, JD and Ella.
After a couple of days in Sarasota, we headed to Lake Wales for a week with Grandma and Grandpa Webster.
Our elf, Jackie, is an amazing little elf and found us at every stop.  Here, Calleigh is checking out some of the fun things Santa dropped off for her at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Christmas Day at the pool!!???  So, I look like I'm freezing but the water was actually a pretty warm 80+ degrees.  I'm just a bit of a wimp, I guess. :)

We got the chance to spend some time with Russ' uncle, Spud.  Russ hadn't seen him in about 20 years so it was nice to see/meet him.

He got Calleigh this really cool Minnie Mouse tricycle.  It has all sorts of sounds and plays the "Hot Dog" song, which Calleigh just loves.
We drove to Lakeland to see Joker Marchant Stadium, where the Tigers play their spring training games.  We're hoping to get down next year for some games.
We got the chance to spend a day at Legoland.  Calleigh was too young to do most of the rides but there were some pretty cool Lego structures and shows for us to see.

Here are some of the many Lego creations in Miniland USA.  It was amazing to see some of the mini US cities and landmarks made out of Legos.

If you look close, the Obamas are on the front porch of The White House. :)

It was a pretty jam-packed trip.  The whole month was pretty jam-packed!  We were nervous about driving straight through to Mobile and straight home from Florida but drives couldn't have gone better.  The kids were awesome and Calleigh loved being able to play with JD and Ella.  Definitely makes us feel good about trying it again sometime.
