Mackinac Island

I took Calleigh to Mackinac Island last weekend.  We stopped in Lewiston for a visit with Gramps and Grandma Stringer.  They hadn't seen Calleigh since she was 3 weeks old.  We left Russ there so he could have his annual golf outing with Gramps and Chad.

Saturday started out raining but when we got on the ferry to go over to the island, the sun started to come out.
It turned out to be a beautiful day.  It was sunny and the perfect temperature.  The water looked so clear and blue.
It was a bit windy though.  Perfect day for flying a kite.
We got some ice cream (of course!) and hung out in the park watching the kites and the people.
Calleigh thought the horses were pretty neat until one snorted at her.  Then she wanted to keep her distance.
I had to take Calleigh on a bike ride around the island.
We stopped part way around the island for some pictures and a breather.  I'd like to think the wind and pulling Calleigh behind me was what made it so difficult but I think I'm just out of shape!
Sunday we headed for home.  We stopped back in Lewiston to pick Russ up and were able to visit with Gramps and Grandma again for a little while.

9 months old

Where has the time gone!  The summer is over and Calleigh is 9 months old already.  At her 9 month check up she weighed 17lb 2oz (25th percentile) and was 27-1/2" long (50th percentile).  All went well at the doctor's especially because there were no shots this time!  She's been crawling for about a month.  She started out doing an army crawl/inchworm maneuver and just this week has started crawling on her hands and knees with her belly off the floor.  She must not like the feel of the cold, hard tile floor on her knees though because in the kitchen and dining area she likes to get up on her hands and toes to move around.  Almost as soon as she was crawling, she started pulling herself up to stand and it wasn't too long and she started walking around the couch.
Calleigh has two teeth in on the bottom and is working on 4 more on the top.  One on the top just poked through yesterday and it won't be long before the others do, too.
So far she's been a pretty good eater.  She loves yogurt and will eat nearly any veggie or fruit that I give her.  She's not a fan of broccoli or cottage cheese.  Those mesh feeders are great.  She chews on fruit in those for quite a while.  I think it feels good on her teeth, too.
Calleigh is proving to be quite helpful around the house.  Just yesterday she "helped" me do the laundry by throwing all the clean clothes, that I had just folded, out of the laundry basket onto the floor.  What a sweetheart!
And tonight she helped Daddy pack his lunch.
I can only imagine the things she will "help" us with in the months and years to come!

Weiderman Weekend

This year, Weiderman Weekend was at the Dunn Inn Resort in Fremont over Labor Day weekend.  It was a little cool this year but we didn't get rained out like the last couple years.  It was perfect weather for a camp fire, which we had going all weekend.
Russ and a couple of the other guys spent a lot of time at the grill cooking for all of us all weekend.  They did a great job!
Calleigh took her first ride on a swing all by herself.
Here she is showing off her Weiderman Weekend t-shirt.
Three of the girls of '09 and their mommies.
Of course there was a fierce competition for the Weiderman Weekend trophy.  Here is the winning team.  Last year's winners forgot to bring the trophy up this year so the beer can is the stand in.
Dane was doing a little pre-competition warm-up with the hula hoop.
Our cabins were on Fremont Lake and the fishing was a lot of fun for the kids and the adults.  The fish were biting almost as soon as the line was cast.
Sunset on the lake.
Calleigh and Oma hanging out one night around the campfire.
Russ and Tony took some of the kids for a ride in the row boats.
My turn!
Kissing cousins!  Calleigh and Dane giving eachother a little smooch.
Calleigh really liked the ride up on Tony's shoulders and it gave her the perfect opportunity to snatch his hat off his head.
Say cheese!

Detroit River Ride

We took a boat ride on the Detroit River aboard the Diamond Queen again this summer.  It was Calleigh's first boat ride.  She was such a good girl but it really wore her out.  It was over 90 degrees that day so it was a great day to be on a boat.  My dad, Terri, Grandma and Grandpa came over for a visit and went on the boat ride along with me, Russ and his parents.

While we were waiting for the boat, Russ took Calleigh for a carousel ride.  It was his first carousel ride of the summer but Calleigh has been on several.  It's funny how many things are fun again when you have a little one.

M.J. took Calleigh on the boat early to get her out of the sun and so she could meet Captain Bill.

Enjoying the ride.

Who needs toys?  Calleigh has been entertained for hours by a water bottle.  If you really want to make her day, give her two of them to bang together.
